The World.
The world is an amazing place. We literally have it all, and it would take a lifetime to even begin to scratch the surface. It offers so much to us to learn, observe, hear, smell, touch, feel, love, calculate, re-visit, re-consider, and appreciate.
That is what this blog is about.
This is where I have decided to record my observations and feelings on the world around me.
An interesting insect. A touching moment. A conversation with a stranger. The world is full to bursting, unending amounts of beauty and joy and intrigue are all around us.
I hope to bring a bit of understanding and appreciation, as well as spark curiosity and passion. After all, those things themselves are magnificent to think about. This is where I will post the things that put a sparkle in my eye, and make the corners of my mouth curl up.
Today, I followed a toad for about 15 minutes, seeing where he was going. and analyzing its clunky gait. His short legs, nearly invisible when stationary gave the little lump of a creature amazing bursts of determined speed as he traversed the dense jungles of dandelions and thistles, searching for an unknown goal. I left the toad, letting my mind wander to the possibilities that could await him. How many toads are there? There must be millions, or at least hundreds of thousands glumping their way across countless landscapes, eating countless insects, and interacting with each other in ways that I have yet to discover.
I plan on seeking the beauty and wonder in this world, and so far, you don't have to look further than an inch in front of your nose to find it.
And with that, we're off!
A final thought; how does the screen on a computer really work? What's going on inside this flat piece of plastic and glass (and who even knows what else!) that makes me understand there's a story about a toad being told? How do my eyes and brain interpret these vague signals being blasted out?
Either way, wow. What a beautiful world.
